Rated G and its a V There's no deep meaning, so make of it what you will. *************************************************** An X File Without A Number (1/1) by Erica Miszti (Erica.Miszti@premium-mail.co.uk) ***************************** Dana Scully strode with purpose out of the elevator and down the darkened corridor. Her feet tap, tapped along the bare concrete floor. Down here the air was heavy and thick, like breathing toffee. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. A steady staccato rhythm. On the other side of the globe, high in the clouds, the air also became thick and heavy. Air molecules bumped and clashed with each other. Scully raised her hand and knocked lightly on the door with her knuckles. "Sorry, nobody down here but the FBI's most unwanted." A rich male voice called out. Half a world away, a spark ignited. Scully opened the door and walked into the room. Her eyes lingered across the cluttered wall, over the scattered files and came to rest on the owner of the voice. He was not what she had expected. Then he spun around and their eyes clashed. A fizz of static electricity crackled through the cloud. The air buzzed and hummed with extraordinary power. "Agent Mulder?" Scully asked, inclining her head slightly, a small smile arriving on her lips. He eyed her curiously, with a trace of a mocking smile about his mouth. She wasn't what he'd expected. She moved closer and stuck out her hand. "I'm Dana Scully." The power exceeded the point of balance and was unleashed from the confines of the cloud. "I've been assigned to work with you." The ironic smile spread a little and he reached out to take her hand. The grip was light and the hand shake perfunctory. The bolt of lightening snaked across the sky in a riot of light and energy. Splitting a hundred ways before finally smashing into the ground, turning layers of earth into pure glass with its intensity. Something had begun.
