Disclaimer: These two wretched creatures are the spawn of Chris Carter, God love him. I'm just...elaborating a little! Title: Heart-Flavored (1/1) Author: Amy Seymour (cseymour@iamerica.net) Category: MSR Rating: G Spoilers: The X-Files Movie: Fight the Future Keywords: Flickfic Summary: Brief (VERY brief) hallway scene "Heart-Flavored" by Amy Seymour Part 1/1 One moment, my heart is on my lips....about to meet hers there. The next instant, it is a weight on my tongue. "The bees," I say, relieved. I stroke the back of her head and sigh heavily, as my heart prepares to make another appearance. It's going to jump out there and speak for itself. Two more beats and I've swallowed it whole. It's thumping in my throat, choking me. She's falling away... and all I can do is hold on and help her make it to the floor. "I have a funny taste in the back of my throat," she says. I've got a two-pound flesh-hammer stuck in mine. I choke on it, try to swallow it down as I run. My desperate words are festooned with streamers of it as they erupt from my throat into the telephone. When I careen around the corner and see her once more, sprawled on the dirty hallway floor, it has nowhere else to go but out. As I skid to a stop on my knees beside her, it dissolves, liquefies, and pours out my mouth. I have no idea what it says to her. This is a language I did not know I could speak. But Scully knows it. She understands these heart-flavored words. With effort, she lifts her arm from the floor, her limp fingers twitching spasmodically as they brush against my chin. *I see it* she says, without speaking. Her fingertips tremble on my mouth. *I know.* I catch her hand in mine and it turns into a cup below my lips, filling up with all the words I did not know I could speak. My heart's words seep into the skin of her palm, find the vein, speed to her heart... and come out shining in her eyes. ************* Author's Note: Oops, I hope FlickFic isn't passe already????? This is my only mid-movie scene (so far). Feedback is my drug-of-choice and constructive criticism is very much appreciated.
