PART I - BECKONING

Preface

It had lain dormant for decades, lingering with malevolent intent,
lurking amidst the cosmos surrounding the sanctuary moon.  It first
sensed the presence of its quarry many years ago, when, on a voyage born
of desperation, she set foot on the ancient forest floor.  She was
young; she was female - and she was Jedi.

Darkness was patient.  The female would return, again and again, her
inheritance heightened and relentlessly drawn by the alluring qualities
of the utopian habitat.  Soon there would be a quickening in her and
there would be more Jedi - and they too would come when summoned.

Darkness could wait - for seeds had been planted long ago.  It need only
await the harvest.
