(grin) ========== Writings: Book By Its Cover by shannono 6 March 1993 God, what a day. It's days like today that made me start writing this journal. Easier than therapy. Cheaper, too. But today . today was a first. In more ways than one. I reported to my new position today. Took one elevator up and another down. Way down. Way, way down. The dregs, or the treasure. Don't know which. Could take me a while to figure that one out. Anyway, he wasn't at all what I expected. I figured on eccentric, brilliant, and, of course, spooky. But not droll, teasing, and certainly not so young. Or at least not looking so young. Not after his life. Oh, I know only bits and pieces. Broken home. College in England. Profiler extraordinare. Golden boy of the VCU. Weirdo who veered off the fast track and into the X-files. Okay, maybe weirdo isn't exactly right. Others have used it, but still . that's a little harsh. Unusual, definitely. Weird, well, that remains to be seen. He was certainly prepared for me, I must say. Probably put up that poster 10 minutes before my arrival. "I WANT TO BELIEVE," indeed. Knew all about me, too. I don't really believe he read my thesis, or at least not the whole thing. He probably laughed at the title, took it at face value, and moved on to other things. But there's more in that paper than the title would indicate. Don't judge a book by its cover, Agent Mulder. The contents could surprise you. ==========END==========
