(there's that word again, Brandon) as the result of one too many demented,
late-night conversations on AIM. The question arose: What do these two
red-blooded Americans do to relieve tension, and what (short of virginity,
which has been done -- and very well, thanks to Imajiru) would keep them
from hopping into bed right at the beginning of a romantic relationship?
So we decided to figure it out for ourselves. Dividing up the sections was a no-brainer, each of us taking the role we knew best (grin), and we got to work writing. What emerged was an ongoing "smut epic," as we've taken to calling it, focusing on a developing romantic relationship between Mulder and Scully in which they do become intimate, in various creative ways, but do NOT actually have sex. Yes, there is (eventually) some actual intercourse in here, but with the lives these two lead, we can't quite see them having the time, energy, or, really, desire to sleep together EVERY night. Some readers have asked about additions to this story. At this point, years after "Alternatives 5" was posted, sequels seem unlikely. But we never say never. So if you like it, send us feedback!
