Ten inches between them. Her neck stayed sore from craning to look up at him all day. Everyone is the same height lying down, she'd heard, but she'd never believed it. She had evidence to the contrary. Four lovers in her life, and the least difference in height was the seven and a half inches between her and Ethan. Four lovers, and she had never been kissed on the mouth while her lover was inside her. Not until Mulder. It was the long legs, she'd decided. From neck to hips he was only a little taller than her; his legs made up the difference. He was all out of proportion, not just his quirky face but his entire body.
